Made in Bridgeport, Connecticut
Originally raised in California, Richard Killeaney left the west coast to pursue his studies in both French and studio art, later receiving an MFA in textiles from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. Before his current career as both home goods designer and college professor at both RISD and the Art Institute New York City, Richard had a multitude of fortuitous jobs from selling paper airplanes professionally to teaching English to French high school students, all of which has positively shaped his design practice today.
Richard started Ocheltree based on the inspiration from the southern California coast, his grandmother’s quilt collection, and the idea that design can be both sustainable and aesthetically pleasing. Ocheltree designs are often made from repurposed materials found during vintage shopping trips, making each piece one of a kind and unique to its owner. Ocheltree Design is redefining American made, one heirloom at a time.
